Keck STEM Service Learning Research Study

In July 2014, the CSU Chancellor’s Office, Center for Community Engagement (CCE) launched the first systemwide study on documenting student success in STEM service learning.

This initial study, funded by the W.M. Keck Foundation, is designed in partnership with California Campus Compact, a statewide service-learning organization, and will include participation from up-to 13 CSU campuses.

A mixed-method study of quantitative and qualitative data will examine the impact service learning has on common measures of student academic achievement (e.g. GPA, retention and graduation), career development and civic engagement, particularly among under-represented students.
