National Non-Partisan Organizations for Students

  • Democracy Matters is a non-partisan organization of students and professors working on campuses across the country to educate people about the role of money in politics and it’s impact on democracy. They are currently accepting applications for paid internships through their Campus Intern Program. For more information or to apply, send a resume and cover letter to Alex Cole, West Coast Field Organizer, alexc@democracymatters.org.

  • Easy Voter Guide Project is dedicated to the idea that all people should have access to nonpartisan information about the why, how and what of voting and other forms of civic involvement.

  • New Voters Project is a nonpartisan effort to register over 265,000 new 18 – 24 year old voters for the 2004 election cycle and turn hundreds of thousands of them to the polls on Election Day.

  • Public Agenda has launched a nonpartisan voter guide to the upcoming U.S. elections called First Choice 2004. The guides are topically organized around issues rather than candidates and address such topics as terrorism, jobs, gay rights, college costs, race, or health care. Each guide presents key facts and three different points of view about how to address each one. Each point of view comes with the arguments for and against, along with potential costs and benefits.

  • Youth04 is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that seeks to transform the role 18-25 year olds will play in the 2004 election. Youth04 is creating student chapters on college campuses to involve students in activities that will encourage participation in the upcoming elections in November.
