| The California State University produces
60% of California’s teachers and 10% of the nation’s
teachers. In order to prepare teachers that are ready to implement
and use service learning as a teaching method, teacher education
and service-learning leaders have combined their efforts to support
the infusion of service learning into teacher education programs.
Since 1999, several initiatives have taken place in the CSU, particularly
in partnership with the Service
Learning 2000 Division of Youth Service California.

opportunity to expand dramatically both the extent and the nature
of practical experiences for teacher education candidates."
