Long Beach: Chavez Day Teach-In Prepares Teens for College

Long Beach

Eighteen CSU Long Beach students coordinated the second Cesar Chavez Day of Service College Prep Teach-In with students at Mendez High in East Los Angeles. Cesar Chavez’s core values inspired the day long program of workshops for the 120-member junior class. Six workshops addressed topics such as "How to Prepare for College, and a variety of disciplines including STEM and social work. The CSULB students not only gave back to the community but also, by sharing their experience and knowledge, helped the teens to connect with college students sharing similar life experiences and to learn more about college life.
