Mandatory Costs: Special Initiatives

The Special Initiatives section of CSU's expenditure plan is an area where items of special significance are budgeted. For 1997/98, special start-up costs for both Monterey Bay and San Marcos were included in this section.

For 1998/99, the special initiative cost is associated with continued start-up costs at CSU, Monterey Bay. These start-up costs include a funding differential for enrollment equal to the difference between 110% of the average 1997/98 cost per full-time equivalent student and the funding provided for the marginal cost of enrollment growth. An additional funding supplement is provided for non-enrollment start-up requirements.
