The CSU Summer Arts Program

Program Description

The CSU Summer Arts is a multidisciplinary systemwide program offering academic credit plus a festival in the visual, performing, and literary arts. The academic component offers two-to four-week residency courses for undergraduates and graduates in creative writing, dance, music, film, video, theatre, performance, visual arts, design, arts education, and new technology.

Budget

The Summer Arts program will receive $1.1 million for the 1997/98 fiscal year.

Evaluation of Program Effectiveness

The program is evaluated by faculty, student, and public participants. There is a statewide advisory board set up for the purpose of feedback and evaluation of all aspects of the program. A program committee made of faculty appointed by the deans from each of the 22 campuses decides the academic component. Students evaluate each class and public performances are evaluated by the attendees.
