Best Practices

San BernardinoCSU San Bernardino

In 2013, students at CSU San Bernardino refocused their efforts to address the growing national epidemic of driving under the influence of alcohol. Led by co-ed fraternity Delta Sigma Chi’s Beta Chapter, the campus and community came together for the 7th Annual Delta Sigma Chi Against Drunk Driving event. The event has won the best ATOD Programming award for six of the past seven years. University and local police assisted with drunk goggle tricycle races, mothers from Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) shared their stories, and members of Delta Sigma Chi gave personal testimonies about a sister whom they lost to a drunk driver a few years ago. Most importantly, students, faculty and staff signed pledge cards committing to not drinking and driving. The program was a tremendous success with hundreds of individuals attending and participating in the program.
