Table 28 - Non-Residents Only

Patterns of Student Enrollment, 2013-2014 College Year

Table 28 provides summaries by campus of the variations in attendance of students within the college year.
Students may attend for as few as one or as many as four terms depending upon the individual campus.
Patterns of enrollment are expressed in terms of unduplicated headcount (any student is counted only once).
The total college year unduplicated headcount for each campus is derived from the enrollments by term combination.

Rows 1 through 4 of the table (labeled "One Term") present the number of students enrolling for only one term
of the 2013-14 academic calendar for any given campus. Rows 5 through 10 present the number of students enrolling
for two terms. Since a campus may have as few as two and as many as four terms in its calendar, students counted
in these categories may be attending for all or only a portion of a campus academic year depending on the campus.
Rows 11 through 14 indicate the number of students enrolled for three terms and row 15 presents the number of
students enrolled for all four terms at a quarter system campus.

Campus enrollments in Rows 1 through 15 are "unduplicated"; that is, no student is counted more than once in these rows.
For example, none of the enrollment counted in Row 2 (Fall Only) is counted in Rows 5, 8, 9, 11, 12, 14, or 15.

Rows 16 through 19 summarize the by-term enrollment on each campus. As such, they can be calculated by adding together
appropriate information from Rows 1 through 15. For example, Row 17 (Total Fall Enrollment) can be found by adding
together Rows 2 (Fall Only), 5 (Summer and Fall), 8 (Fall and Winter), 9 (Fall and Spring), 11 (Summer, Winter and Fall),
12 (Summer, Fall and Spring), 14 (Fall, Winter, and Spring) and 15 (All Terms).

Row 20 represents the total number of individuals enrolled at any time during the college year at that campus.
Again, this figure represents only unduplicated enrollment at a campus; students are counted only once regardless of
the number of terms for which they were enrolled. If a student enrolls at more than one campus or changes residence
status during the college year, that student will be included in the count for each campus at each status.
For any campus, the Net Individuals shown in the table can be calculated by adding together all of the enrollments
shown in Rows 1 through 15.

For the CSU as a whole, a total of 24,873 "non-resident" individuals enrolled at some time during the 2013-14
college year. Of these, about 18,106 or 73 percent were enrolled for a full academic year on a CSU campus.
Students attended for a "full academic year" if they attended during fall and spring at a semester campus or fall,
winter, and spring at a quarter campus. Each campus calendar must be taken into account in order to determine the
number of students enrolled for the entire year on a given campus.
