Jesus V. Perez

Jesus V. Perez photo Jesus V. Perez entered Fresno State in 1990. As a son of migrant farm workers from Salinas, he came from a historically disadvantaged background. A capable student, Jesus graduated from Fresno State with a Special Major in Interdisciplinary Studies (Latin American Studies) in 1998. Jesus was accepted into graduate studies at San Diego State University and completed his M.A. in Latin American Studies in 2002. His master's thesis was awarded the “Best Thesis in Latin American Studies” by the Pacific Coast Council on Latin American Studies. During the 2002-2003 school year, Jesus worked in Gresham, Oregon with Catholic Charities as a gang outreach specialist. In fall 2003 he entered the Ph.D. history program at the University of California, San Diego.
