Best Practices

San BernardinoCSU San Bernardino

CSU San Bernardino conducts and participates in a number of alcohol awareness programs and events. The following are some outstanding examples:

  • The CSUSB Center for Health Education and Wellness, along with the P.E.E.R. Program, participated in the annual National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week (NCAAW) in October. The main objective is to raise awareness regarding the harmful effects of alcohol abuse and to reduce impairment among those using alcohol.
  • CSUSB Peer Health Educators (PHEs) provide the campus community with outreach and programming events, including information and interactive activities that encourage responsible, healthy, and safe decision-making regarding alcohol consumption.
  • Welcome Week, a week-long event established to kick off the academic year, targets all students and provides more than 55 programs between noon and 1 a.m. The event helps students organize and prioritize their classes, acclimate to student life, and meet other new students or reconnect with old friends. Program themes include alcohol awareness, educational success, diversity, student safety and campus resources.
