Carlos Carrio

Carlos Carrio started the Peer Health Educator Program at CSUSB in 2006. The program has flourished and is a model peer health program and includes the BACCHUS certified peer health education curriculum. Under Carrio's leadership, the Peers have been instrumental in establishing a smoke-free campus with designated areas, securing grants to improve physical activity, increasing nutritional items in vending machines and dining services, and implementing a pre-diabetic prevention education program.
Carrio has also been influential at the state level in COUGH and tobacco education, assisting numerous campuses with smoke-free policy and implementation.
