- Currently senior editor, Page One of The Wall Street Journal, editing in-depth enterprise stories on politics, finance, corporations and foreign affairs, as well as breaking news, for the front page of the largest newspaper in the United States.
- Joined The Wall Street Journal as a national news editor during the 2008-09 financial crisis using his degree in economics to help edit stories of the biggest global financial story in decades.
- Directed coverage of two Pulitzer Prize-winning breaking news events for the Los Angeles Times: a 1997 bank robbery in North Hollywood and the 2003 Southern California wildfires.
- Worked for more than 20 years at the Los Angeles Times as a reporter, assistant city editor, city editor and foreign correspondent in Mexico City.
- Began his career in journalism in 1980 as a reporter for the South Bay beach cities weekly newspaper Easy Reader, splitting his time between work and attending classes at CSU Dominguez Hills.
