Education

• Received the 62nd National Teacher of the Year award from the Council of Chief State School Officers.
• Recognized by President Obama at a White House ceremony as the best among the nation's 3.2 million teachers.
• Teaches seventh grade English at Luther Burbank Middle School.
• Recipient of many teaching awards, including California Teacher of the Year, California League of Middle Schools Educator of the Year for Southern California, and PTA Honorary Service Award.
• Remains active with CSU Northridge, participating on panels and providing career advice to aspiring teachers. Both her father and husband are also graduates of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
