- Founded Legacy Direct, a nonprofit healthcare organization committed to empowering the people of Zimbabwe.
- Founder and president of the International Center for Professional Development (ICPD). Supervised mentoring and scientific fellowships for more than 300 graduate and post-doctoral researchers in the United States and Africa.
- Initiated the Jatropha Tree project for the people of Africa, which provides low-maintenance trees that can produce biodiesel that can be sold to pay for medication.
- Honored with multiple awards, including the 2006 Camarillo Healthcare District's Apple of Excellence award.
