- As of 2008, Kennedy was the most successful film producer of all time in terms of domestic box office receipts, with totals at just over $5 billion.
- Co-founded Amblin Entertainment with CSU Long Beach alumnus Steven Spielberg and her husband, Frank Marshall, in 1981 and served as its president until 1992.
- Some of her films include Jurassic Park and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.
- Serves as a governor on the Board of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
