• Coached the U.S. team to earn a bronze medal at the first Olympic Judo Tournament during the 1964 games in Tokyo.
• Organized the first U.S. High School Judo Championships, which were held at San José State.
• San José State dedicated Yoshihiro Uchida Hall, which houses its judo dojo, to him in 1997.
