PRESIDENT'S HIGHLIGHTS

The CSU Alumni Council congratulates Timothy P. White on his appointment as chancellor of the California State University. We are especially excited that Chancellor-designee White is an alumnus of both Fresno State and CSU East Bay. I'm honored to have represented alumni on the external advisory group to the trustees that assisted in the selection process.

We are also pleased to have been able to thank Chancellor Reed for his commitment to CSU alumni at last week's Alumni Council meeting.

CSU Alumnus Appointed Chancellor

On Thursday, October 4 the CSU Board of Trustees announced the selection of CSU Chancellor-designee Timothy P. White alumnus Timothy P. White as chancellor of the California State University. White, 63, has served as UC Riverside chancellor since 2008.

Alumni Trustee and Chair of the CSU Board of Trustees Bob Linscheid notes, "Tim White's background and experience reflect the institutional values and mission of the CSU. His demonstrated leadership and commitment to student success are the right combination for the university's future."

Honoring Chancellor Reed

At the Fall Alumni Council meeting last week, the Council took the opportunity to honor Chancellor Reed on his retirement and thank him for his service and dedication to CSU alumni. Chancellor Charles B. Reed

The Alumni Council presented Chancellor Reed with a custom CSU letterman's jacket highlighting his years of service to the university and a map of the 23 campuses.

ALUMNI COUNCIL ENDORSES PROP 30

At its regular business meeting on September 28, the CSU Alumni Council board of directors voted to endorse Proposition 30 on the California November ballot. The action followed endorsement by the CSU Board of Trustees.

If the measure fails, the CSU will receive a trigger cut of $250 million resulting in reduced enrollment and class sections in addition to a 5% tuition increase and the loss of 1,500 staff and faculty jobs.
