Over 150 alumni were in attendance at this networking event on November 8 in Arcadia!

The CSU actively works to engage veterans and current military personnel to pursue higher education with its "Troops to College" program, which help veterans make use of all their educational benefits. California's continuously expanding Business and Professional Services sector requires an educational system that can support its growth. One out of every five CSU graduates in 2009 completed a bachelor's degree in business/management. Furthermore, about 54 percent of all business bachelor's degrees in the state come from the CSU. The CSU is a leader in preparing these graduates and awards 64 percent of the master's degrees in public administration and 49 percent of bachelor's degrees in city, urban, community, and regional planning. We've released another CSU 50th Anniversary Public Service Announcement. This one features Fresno State alumnus James Kardach, chief power architect at Intel Corporation.

There is a significant demand nationwide for qualified social workers and the CSU provides more of them to California than anyone. The CSU awarded 82 percent of bachelor's degrees in social work and 69 percent of the master's degrees in 2007. Social workers provide a considerable array of services for California's families and represent a link between our citizens and the services of their government and community. July 2011

On Friday, July 22, Chancellor Reed met with the leadership at DreamWorks to discuss how the CSU can continue to prepare graduates ready to compete in the entertainment industry. CSU alumni already working at DreamWorks gathered with the Chancellor for a photo to show their campus and CSU pride!

Hospitality and Tourism is a key industry in California. 64 percent of the tourism graduates in California and about 94 percent of hospitality administration and management graduates come from the CSU system. The CSU is the only university in California with a bachelor's degree program in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies. June 2011

CSU Los Angeles alumnus and CSU Foundation board member Mike Lucki was featured in a major spread in CFO Magazine in June. Lucki is Senior Vice President and CFO of CH2M Hill, a consulting, engineering a construction firm that is overseeing the construction of London's 2012 Olympic venues among many other projects.

Guy Heston, CSULB Alumni Association board member and president-elect of the CSU Alumni Council shared his perspective on state investment in higher education with an op-ed piece in the June 1 edition of the Long Beach Press Telegram.

The CSU produces 44% of the state's graduates with bachelor's degrees in health- or medical-related fields and 37% of those with master's degrees. Take a look at several CSU alumni who are part of the CSU's Working for California project and are leaders in our state's diverse healthcare systems.
