A Message from Alumni Trustee Bob Linscheid
I am a proud alum of the California State University. I want others to share that pride.
The California State University is a remarkable university, providing the outstanding teaching, research and hands-on learning that graduates need to succeed in the workforce. With over 450,000 students on 23 campuses, the CSU is developing the future engineers, artists, nurses and scientists who will lead California into the future.
It is critical now, when the state's investment in higher education is diminishing, to talk about our university and the difference it is making. Share with your family members, your neighbors, your friends and your local leaders that the CSU provides the workforce that will make California a stronger, more vibrant and more economically sound state. Carry the message forward that the CSU creates jobs and revenue for the state. You are our best advocates, and together our voices can be strong and powerful.
As your representative, I carry that message every day in my work for the Board of Trustees, in my visits to campuses, and in my discussions with civic and business leaders. I have created the Facebook page Proud CSU Alumni and encourage you to join. The page contains posts about CSU alumni who are making a difference and information about issues impacting the university.
Over this past year, I have had the opportunity to participate in nine campus visits and will continue to make this a priority during the duration of my term. I am also very pleased to have been involved with the California Higher Education Student Summit and to have worked collaboratively with the California State Student Association to promote student access and enhance student financial aid.
In 2008-09, I served as chair of the Board of Trustees committee on Campus Planning, Buildings and Grounds facilitating the development of $885 million in campus improvements. I also served on five other committees, including Institutional Advancement, Governmental Relations, Finance, Educational Policy, and Collective Bargaining.
It is a tremendous honor to serve the CSU, and I would like to thank the Alumni Council for the opportunity to be your representative.
