My Story, My CSU

  • A non-traditional experience
I completed my MPA through the Cal State Online program at CSU Dominguez Hills, returning to college after more than a decade while balancing a career at San José State University. While the online format requires a high level of discipline, the ability to work on assignments in hotels, airports, airplanes, cafes and even while camping made it possible for my to complete the degree.
  • Favorite professors
Dr. Hugo Asencio and Dr. Rui Sun led many of the courses in our cohort. I found both of them to be extremely interested in student success, engaging in conversation, and full of grace when the reality of working full time (plus) and attending an aggressive 8-week course collided. Though we didn’t meet face-to-face in the course of the program, I left CSUDH feeling very connected to the faculty.
  • Working at one CSU, attending another
While I was attending CSUDH, I was working full time at SJSU. The experience gave me a deeper appreciation for the incredible work of the CSU in preparing the work force and enabling hard-working people to realize their dreams of serving others through public and non-profit service.
  • CSU Alumni Council
Being part of an organization that serves as the voice of more than three million alumni is an incredible experience. There is such a rich story to tell of all that the CSU and its alumni contribute to the betterment of our communities.
