The California State University (CSU) will be seeking authors to carry only a few new sponsored bills this legislative session. The decision to keep the sponsored package limited was in part due to the state’s current economic climate that will require a great deal of effort towards the CSU’s proposed budget funding.More »

LAO Releases Response to Governor’s Budget Proposal
The Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) has recommended that the legislature reject the Governor’s proposed constitutional amendment to increase funding for higher education while decreasing funding in the area of corrections.More »

State Initiatives Beginning to Circulate
As the election year begins there are many issues that are making their way into circulation to qualify for the upcoming election ballot. The Secretary of State reports on their website that there are 67 proposals that are currently in the process of seeking signature and placement on the June or November ballots.More »

Legislative Leadership Set to Shift
Recently it was announced that the leadership for both parties in the Assembly’ will change sooner rather than later with the democratic majority electing John Perez (D-Los Angeles) as the next Speaker of the state Assembly on March 1. Additionally Assembly Member Martin Garrick (R-Solana Beach) is expected to take over as Assembly Republican leader as soon as the first week of February. More »
