New Academic Provost Begins at CSU Chancellors Office
Dr. Jeronima (Jeri) Echeverria began her new duties this month as associate vice chancellor for academic affairs for the California State University (CSU) system. She was appointed to the position late last year by the CSU Board of Trustees after having served as provost and vice president for Academic Affairs at California State University, Fresno.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the faculty and students of the CSU in this challenging assignment,” said Echeverria. “I am also grateful for the experiences I have had at Fresno State that have prepared me to work on academic issues for our university system and for the State of California.”
Echeverria has served as the chief academic officer for Fresno State since 2003 and has served as a faculty member and academic administrator with the university since 1988. While at Fresno, she has also served as associate provost. In addition, Echeverria served as associate dean of the College of Social Sciences and chair of the history department. Echeverria has served on various CSU systemwide committees including the Provost’s subcommittee on Research Proposal, the Master of Business Administration proposal development group, Common Management Services and the CSU Human Relations Advisory Group.
Echeverria earned a B.A. degree in Humanities/History from the University of California, Irvine, Teaching Credentials in Social Sciences and Educational Administration and an M.A. and Ph.D. in history from University of North Texas.
