Suspense Calendar Holds Numerous Measures
On Thursday August 7, the Senate and the Assembly Appropriation Committees both met simultaneously to hear and dispense with their suspense file. While the Assembly stayed with their existing fiscal level of $150,000 to send a bill to suspense, the Senate set a more stringent level of $50,000, capturing more measures than ever before on their suspense file.

While the Assembly and the Senate typically seek symmetry on the number of bills from the other house that they hold and release, the Senate only released 50 percent of the measures from its suspense file. It could be argued that the Senate was just as harsh on their measures in May; still the number of measures held was stunning. More »

Election Year Report: Time for Candidate Visits
The 2008 election cycle has many important issues and long-term implications for the future of the state and the nation. The election of a new United States President leads the top of the ballot in November but there are many other issues and candidates that are of interest to the California State University (CSU) as a system and as a family of voters that will cast their ballots. CSU Works to Ensure Employees Receive Paychecks
In response to the governor’s signing of an executive order aimed at lowering state workers pay to federal minimum wage, California State University Chancellor Charles Reed stated in a press release the CSU’s commitment to its employees and to making sure they receive their regular paychecks.
