Report Calls for Increase in State’s Role for Nursing Programs
The Legislative Analyst’s Office (LAO) recently released a report “Ensuring an Adequate Health Workforce: Improving State Nursing Programs” that described the state’s role in training and licensing registered nurses; illustrated the future supply and demand for registered nurses; pointed out challenges to increasing the supply of nurses and gave recommendations for the Legislature’s consideration to increase the number of completions from state nursing programs. High School Coursework Touted as Key to College Success
Research shows that rigorous high school coursework is the key to success in college and the workforce. A report recently released by the U. S. Department of Education’s National Center for Education Statistics concludes that the states are showing high school students are taking more advanced coursework. More »

2007-08 CSU Budget Update
The legislature is taking final actions on the 2007-08 state budget in an effort to meet their June 15 constitutional deadline to submit a budget to the Governor. Currently the Senate/Assembly budget conference committee are reviewing and approving the recommendations of each house’s budget subcommittees. More »
