Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI)

Section 508 Web Standards

(o) A method shall be provided that permits users to skip repetitive navigation links or very long lists of links.

What does it mean?

There will be ways for a person using a screen reader or another assistive technology to skip sections with numerous navigation links or to skip extremely long lists of links.

How to evaluate

Skip links are easily identified and provided to skip to the main content or to get to navigation links. The tab key doesn't need to be used to skip through links and lists. Functional frames with navigation or content titles are another method to skip through sections of the web page. Navigation links are not hidden on the page. Screen readers and other assistive technologies can easily navigate the page.
