Section 508 Web Standards

(n) When electronic forms are designed to be completed on-line, the form shall allow people using assistive technology to access the information, field elements, and functionality required for completion and submission of the form, including all directions and cues.

What does it mean?

All form elements on the online form will be accessible by people using assistive technology devices. Form elements include information, fields, buttons, data entry boxes, radio and check boxes, tabs, access keys, and input control buttons.

How to evaluate

The form is designed in a logical order and all form elements are read with assistive technology devices. Labels are in close proximity to the input field. There are text labels on all form controls. Form elements have tags for identification and for groups in categories. The form is keyboard accessible. All form functions are accessible.
