Commendation for Dr. Saeed Mortazavi

WHEREAS, Dr. Saeed Mortazavi has served with distinction on the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) representing Humboldt State University for AY 2011-2012; and

WHEREAS, Senator Mortazavi has been engaged in issues brought before this body in a serious and thoughtful manner; and

WHEREAS, The CSU faculty, administrators, students and staff who have worked with Dr. Mortazavi have benefited from his knowledge, diligence and commitment to shared governance and his contributions to the HSU School of Business, where he taught an incredible number of overload classes and served as a tireless and effective chair; and

WHEREAS, Senator Saeed Mortazavi's achievements include decades of exceptional scholarship and service at Humboldt State University (chair of the School of Business, academic senator and senate chair, university budget committee cochair, to name only a few of his stellar contributions); and

WHEREAS, In recognition for his outstanding service Dr. Mortazavi was awarded Humboldt State University’s 2010-2011 AY Outstanding Service Award for his "sustained and distinguished service to HSU, the community, and the profession," having spent 28 years serving as a member of 35 different
university-level committees and four years as Academic Senate chair; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU commend Senator Mortazavi for his extraordinary service as a scholar, educator and contributions to shared governance; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU express its thanks to Senator Mortazavi for his valuable service to the ASCSU, and offer its regrets that the opportunity to work with him and benefit from his encompassing expertise has been far too short; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU offer its best wishes to Dr. Saeed Mortazavi for success in his future endeavors, both professional and personal.
