Commendation of the “Funding the Future of the CSU” Conference Hosted by California State University (CSU) Northridge

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) commend the
CSU Northridge Academic Senate for sponsoring the “Funding the Future of the CSU” conference; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU thank Assembly Member Bob Blumenfield, Steven Boilard and Judy Heiman of the Legislative Analyst’s Office; Dr. John Aubrey Douglass, President King Alexander, and the other conference participants for the important roles they played in making the conference a success; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the ASCSU encourage other campus senates to work with the CSU, Northridge Academic Senate to offer similar forums in other parts of the state; and be it further

RESOLVED: That this resolution be distributed to Board of Trustees, Campus Presidents, Campus Senate Chairs, Bob Blumenfield, Steven Boilard and Judy Heiman.

RATIONALE: The most critical issue facing the CSU at this time is securing adequate funding to assure our students access to a quality education. This conference brought together faculty, administration, staff, governmental leaders and others to discuss funding and other important issues concerning the future of the CSU. Many useful ideas were shared and important questions were raised. Many CSU campuses were not represented at the conference. They could benefit from the guidance of the CSU Northridge Academic Senate in facilitating similar forums.
