Commendation of Dr. Lillian Vega-Castañeda

WHEREAS, Lillian Vega-Castañeda has, with honor and distinction, represented California State University (CSU) Channel Islands on the Academic Senate CSU since 2002; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Vega-Castañeda has passionately and effectively represented the interests of K-12 students and educators throughout her career, including her service on the Teacher Education and K-12 Relations Committee; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Vega-Castañeda has been a tireless advocate for California's underserved and underrepresented populations, including her service on the Pre-Doctoral Program Advisory Committee; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Vega-Castañeda has shared her expertise with numerous statewide committees, advisory boards and taskforces on issues of faculty rights, teacher preparation and student achievement; and

WHEREAS, Lillian Vega-Castañeda represents with exceptional grace and outstanding professionalism the faculty of CSU Channel Islands and a genuine commitment to shared governance; therefore be it

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU expresses its gratitude and appreciation to Lillian Vega-Castañeda for her years of service; and be it further

RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate CSU wishes Lillian Vega-Castañeda health and joy, and all the best in her future endeavors at CSU Channel Islands.
