RESOLVED: That the Academic Senate of the California State University (ASCSU) commends the Chancellor’s Office for the quality of the consultation that occurred with the ASCSU Executive Committee in the establishment of the charge and membership for the new CSU Doctorate in Education Advisory Committee (attached); and be it further

RESOLVED: The ASCSU recommends that the proposed CSU Doctorate in Education Advisory Committee (AS-2793-07) assume the responsibility for implementing the recommendations intended to promote and establish the CSU as a center of “High Quality Ed.D programs in Educational Leadership” as specified in AS-2792-07; and be it further

RESOLVED: The ASCSU intends that these systemwide efforts to promote and establish the CSU as a center of “High Quality Ed.D programs in Educational Leadership” provide each campus level program with the opportunity for its faculty and students to contribute and showcase their individual perspectives, knowledge and research regarding the critical issues that challenge K-12 and Community College leadership throughout the state of California

RATIONALE: Again, the intent of this resolution is to exceed the expectations associated with the legislation authorizing the CSU to establish Ed.D programs to use this opportunity to develop and establish the CSU as a nationally recognized leader and center of expertise in dealing with the critical issues that will face educational leadership at both the K-12 and community college levels. The consultation and collaboration recommended in AS-2792-07 is an appropriate and fundamental responsibility that can be provided by the CSU Doctorate in Education Advisory Committee.
