Academic Preparation & Education Programs (APEP)
Denise Fleming (East Bay), Chair

This May, APEP completed its final math-focused tasks for this academic year. Recently, we have begun meeting collectively, rather than separately, with our Chancellor's Office (CO) liaisons, Ken O’Donnell, Eric Forbes, Ed Sullivan, and Carolina Cardenas. We all agreed that the resulting discussions have been more robust and productive. More »

Faculty Affairs Committee (FA)

The Faculty Affairs committee discussed and prepared a resolution: AS-3251-16/FA (Rev) ”In Support of Increased Funding for the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (RSCA) Program.” This resolution urges the Chancellor’s Office to increase funding for the Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities (RSCA) program to a level commensurate with the intent behind the program, the recognized value of faculty and student research as a significant factor in the quality of education, the amount of external funding faculty research brings to the CSU, and the fact that lecturers, as well as tenure-track faculty, are now eligible to receive RSCA funding. Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee (FGA)

As noted in the past, spring is one of the busiest times of year, both in the California Legislature and for the Fiscal & Governmental Affairs (FGA) Committee. FGA’s principal activities since the March issue of ASCSU’s Faculty to Faculty newsletter have included planning and participating in the ASCSU’s annual Advocacy Day activities in the State Capitol on April 12th, and the continued monitoring of legislative activity in both the Senate and the Assembly.
