The Academic Affairs (AA) Committee had another substantive meeting in November 2015.  I’d like to thank the members of AA for their hard work and thoughtful contributions.  Our guests included Ken O’Donnell (Senior Director, Student Engagement and Academic Initiatives and Partners); Shelia Thomas (Dean of Extended Education); and Angela Williams (Project Manager, Intra System Enrollment).  Course transfer emerged as a major theme in our discussions. Academic Preparation & Education Programs (APEP)

On November 2, 2015, the Academic Preparation and Education Program (APEP) Committee spent the majority of our time in conversation with liaisons from the Chancellor’s Office. APEP exchanged views with Dr. Joe Aguerrebere (Interim Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs) on a variety of topics, including the importance of shared governance and early faculty involvement in such matters as criteria for establishing collaborative activities with outside benefactors. Faculty Affairs Committee (FA)

Faculty Affairs Committee discussed and revised two second reading resolutions, which were both approved at the ASCSU plenary on November 6, 2015:
  • Call for Suspension of CSU Background Check Policy (HR-2015-08) AS-3223-15/FA (Rev)
  • Addition of an Emeritus or Emerita Faculty Member to the CSU Board of Trustees AS-3228-15/FA (Rev) More »
Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee (FGA)

Given the end of this year’s legislative session in Sacramento, the Fiscal & Governmental Affairs Committee (FGA) submitted its final report on 2015 legislative activities to the Academic Senate (ASCSU) at its November 2015 plenary session.  The report included a summary of both activity in the Legislature as well as Governor Brown’s actions on legislation that had been deemed of interest to the Academic Senate.
