Resolution Summaries
CSU Board of Trustees July Meeting
The Board devoted a large portion of its time to closed session meetings on litigation and executive personnel matters.  The Board approved compensation increases for executives and non-represented personnel. You may find my July report to the Trustees here.

CSU Board of Trustees May Meeting
The Board heard reports on the Cal State Online Initiative, Academic Efficiencies and Effectiveness, and the 2015-2016 Support Budget. The Board also approved issuance of systemwide revenue bonds and related debt instruments for projects at San Francisco State University and San Diego State University. Initial proposals for re-opener negotiations with the California Faculty Association (CFA) were also approved.  You may find my May report to the Trustees here.

Budget
As you’re aware, the State Budget has been finalized and signed by the Governor. The Trustees’ support budget has been fully funded. Please note also that a specific allocation of $11 million was made for hiring faculty. Please join me in thanking all who participated in advocating for funding the CSU the week following our March plenary. We heard an update report from Assistant Vice Chancellor of Academic Technology Services Gerry Hanley on Cal State Online, and had a discussion of the revised goals of the project. At the conclusion of that discussion, Assistant Vice Chancellor Hanley agreed to provide the Commission with a report on Cal State Online’s previous incarnation and an analysis of how funds allocated to the project were spent.

Ethnic Studies Task Force
The Ethnic Studies Task Force draft report was distributed in late May, and comments were solicited. The Executive Committee believed that the timing was such that faculty input would be minimal, so we have prevailed upon the Task Force leadership to extend the feedback/comments period through the end of September. Please remind your campus colleagues that we would very much appreciate their thoughtful counsel on the issues raised in the report and on the recommendations of the Task Force.

Chancellor’s Office responses to the resolutions approved at our May plenary may be found here.
