An introductory course in organic and biochemistry intended for majors in allied health and other applied sciences (e.g. agriculture, nutrition).
Prerequisites
General Chemistry for Allied Health Majors, with Lab or one year of High School Chemistry
Minimum Unit Requirements
4 units, including at least 1 unit of laboratory (at least 38 hours of lecture and 38 hours of laboratory)
Course Topics
An introduction to the principles of organic and biological chemistry including nomenclature, functional groups, and properties of organic and biological compounds. Applications of organic and biochemistry to living systems. Appropriate for students majoring in allied health and other applied sciences. The laboratory sequence will support the above topics including both qualitative and quantitative experiments, and analysis of data.
