General Chemistry for Allied Health Majors, with Lab - TCSU CHEM 130
Description
An introductory course in chemistry intended for majors in allied health and other applied sciences (e.g. agriculture, nutrition).
Minimum Unit Requirements
4 units, including at least 1 unit of laboratory (at least 38 hours of lecture and 38 hours of laboratory)
Course Topics
Introduction to the principles of chemistry including physical and chemical changes, energetics, atomic structure, bonding, nomenclature, chemical calculations, chemical reactions (including solubility, neutralization, and oxidation-reduction) gas laws, solutions, acids and bases, pH, equilibrium, and nuclear chemistry. Appropriate for students majoring in allied health and other applied sciences. The laboratory sequence will support the above topics including both qualitative and quantitative experiments, and analysis of data.

The American Chemical Society (ACS) General-Organic-Biochemistry examinations provide information on topics, goals, and objectives for these courses and indicate an appropriate level for this sequence.
