David Wright is currently the Director, Academic Affairs, Teacher Education--Evaluation and Assurance. Dr. Wright coordinates and implements the CSU Systemwide Evaluation of Teacher Preparation, an annual assessment of program and campus outcomes based on a common, systemwide vision that governs professional teacher preparation throughout CSU. In this capacity, Dr. Wright collects, compiles and consolidates large volumes of information about the performance, employment and retention of CSU teachers, and about academic gains made by their K-12 students. Annually, Dr. Wright reports the consolidated information to the Chancellor, to Academic Affairs, and to academic leaders on 22 CSU campuses.

Prior to joining the Chancellor's Office, David was a classroom teacher (grades 5-6), a university professor, and a policy advisor at the state leve. For 20 years David conducted state policy studies and initiated reforms in state policies that govern the academic and professional preparation, assessment, induction and certification of teachers throughout California.
