Report of the ICS Task Force Conference Call
July 21, 1999 1:00 p.m.

Participating: Kathleen Messer (Chair), Jo Ann Bradley, Gail Cosmo, Lore Gravino, Elizabeth Housewright, Kelley Martin, Rhonda Rios Kravitz, Pat Lavigna (reporting), Deborah Schaeffer, Marvin Pollard and Harold Schleifer

Marvin gave a short report on his 7/20 conference call with Scott Wheelhouse and Lana Porter of Ameritech. He hopes to be able to provide us with more information in the near future.

At this time there are no dates for Pharos training or an ILL Unit heads meeting. Beta version of 3.1 will go first to Marvin. If he approves, Kelley (San Diego) and Jo Ann (Chico) will have an opportunity to test it before the remaining members of ICS Task Force are trained. ICS Task Force campuses will then participate in a pilot program before the RSS is introduced systemwide.

Elizabeth sent out an email message about the cancellation of the August ILL Unit heads meeting. She reported she had not heard back from any of the campuses. The names of additional people to be added to that list should be sent to Elizabeth.

There was considerable discussion about ways of improving communication between the task force and ILL unit heads. ILL unit heads need to be kept informed. A threaded discussion group, a Listserv, a web-based newsletter and/or monthly conference calls were proposed. It was decided at this point in time to encourage all ILL unit heads to subscribe to the uiasics listserv. Elizabeth will send out a message asking them to join.

Deborah will highlight minutes of all conference calls and meetings. Elizabeth will send the highlights to Marvin for posting to our web page.

The buddy system will also be used to aid communication. Test sites have been assigned 3-4 buddies. Test sites and their buddies are listed below:

Test Sites Buddies

Chico Humboldt, Sacramento, Stanislaus

Sonoma Fresno, Monterey Bay, San Luis Obispo

San Francisco San Jose, Hayward, Moss Landing

San Diego San Marcos, Long Beach, Dominguez Hills, Fullerton

Pomona San Bernardino, Bakersfield, Northridge, Los Angeles

The next conference call will be 9 August at 10:00 a.m.

The next meeting will be in San Francisco on 8 October. The meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. and last until 3:00 p.m. The circulation policy for books will be reviewed, and we will begin working on a policy for articles.
