Steps for Installing the Horizon 5.1 Client Software (to View Marc Records)

Start

HORIZON; fill in password
-
Open BIBEDIT module (Cataloger’s module);
minimize window
-
Open SEARCH module
-
Search
-
Search catalog using one of the indexes
-
Select a record or a range of records
-
Choose "Send to Cataloging" (top menu)
-
Installation Details
-
Start Windows NT or Windows 95 Explorer;
find directory with Horizon files.
-
Highlight the long string of digits
below and press
CTRL-C to copy the string. This is your customer
authorization noOpenClient11.1 directory
CAS for Open Client 11.1.0
is
BKBKBKBKCXBKBKIMJVRPBKBKIOWYWTTYII

Double click on SybOpen.exe to
begin installation
-
CTRL-V to paste your customer
authorization (the long string of digits) into the box.
-
Click to continue. Accept all choices
(about three screens).
-
The program will then de-compress itself.
-
At the screen beginning "SQL.INI interfaces
file is needed for Sybase connectivity to run properly" accept the option
"Ignore for now"
-
At the screen beginning "Your Sybase
installer has completed this portion of the installation" accept the option
"Logoff for now"
-
From Start option, choose Programs.
Then choose Sybase for Windows NT or Windows 95; and begin DSEDIT

At "Select a Directory Service," click
OK
-
DSName: Interfaces Driver = OK
This will lead to a popup window. Choose
ADD
and type server name: Pharos. Then click OK
-
At "Select Server address line," click
OK.
This will lead to a popup menu. Select/fill in the following information
and click OK
-
Protocol: NLWNSCK
-
Network Address: 130.150.250.33,3025
-
From main menu, click file, and
click exit
-
(Re-Start DSEDIT) From Start
option, choose Programs. Then choose Sybase for Windows NT;
and begin DSEDIT
-
From top menu, choose ServerObject,
Ping
-
Wait for ping results. If ping works,
continue; otherwise contact Marvin Pollard (mpollard@calstate.edu)
DO NOT CONTINUE IF PING FAILS
-
Using Windows NT Explorer, find Setup.exe;
double click to begin installation
-
Click OK at window asking whether
you want to proceed
-
Enter your Horizon Install Passkey.
Then click next
-
Passkey: ROCKHOUSE (uppercase)
-
Leave all other fields empty
-
Choose Install Horizon 5.1
-
At Modules to Install menu, choose Cataloging.
(Note that the software will
only install one program at a time; so you will need to return to this
window to install Public Access)
-
At Components to Install menu, accept
selections: Staff Pac and Borrower Pac (the boxes are already
checked).
-
At "Select which type of open client"
accept Sybase Open Client
-
At "Startup parameters": Type Pharos
-
At "SQL Servers": Type Pharos;
leave "profile string" empty
-
At "Enter SQL Server name," press exit
-
At "Click yes if your SQL information
is correct" click yes (even though you will not re-ping the server
at this point)
-
At Modules to Install menu, choose Public
Access, and then continue.

At Modules to Install menu (again),
click finished
-
At "Welcome to Horizon," click exit
-
Finally, click on Shortcut Icon for
Horizon from NT desktop.
-
Fill in parameters. You will only need
to fill out all of the parameters the first time you use Horizon. After
that, you will only need to fill in the password.

Server: click "select"; then type pharos
-
Database: click "select"; then press
ok
at Error message.

User: sa
-
Password: inhouse
-
Database: Pharos
-
Location: Find number for campus, e.g.:
20
= CTU
-
Services: Arrow to 2 then click
-
Horizon user: system
-
Password: system
-
Start up a session
-
At NT desktop, click the HORIZON icon
-
Enter password: system
-
At Horizon Menu Manager, select bibed
and open program. Then minimize Cataloging program
-
At Horizon Menu Manager, select search
and open program.
-
Highlight index to search; enter search
key; click ok
-
Highlight record or records to retrieve.
Then at top menu, click on "Send to Cataloging (PHAROS: Pharos)
