The wake-up-on-alarm function in setup allows a PC to power-on at a given date. This may not work accurately for wake-up dates in year 2000. Update can be found on www.pc.ibm.com/files.html for ( NKJT18A) or higher. Use search Key NKJT.
Readiness Legend:
Ready A product is Year 2000 Ready if the product, when used in accordance with its associated documentation, is capable of correctly processing, providing, and/or receiving date data within and between the 20th and 21st centuries, provided all other products (for example, software, hardware, and firmware) used with the product properly exchange accurate date data with it.

Note that a ready product may require a service update to achieve readiness. (Service updates includes APARs and PTFs for software and EC updates for hardware.) Also, note that some products in this category may have a future date (typically by year end 1997).

Ready* (The * indicates that customer action is specifically required for the product to be Year 2000 ready, such as PTF, bios update, or EC.)
Ready# (Indicates that the most current release is ready but one or more prior release(s) are not ready.)
Ready*# (Indicates that the most current release is ready once service is applied but one or more prior release(s) are not ready.)
HW Ready (Indicates that the ready status refers to hardware only and not to any software that might be pre-installed or otherwise provided by IBM with the purchase of the hardware.) For PC products, if you take a simple action, your model will be capable of updating its hardware clock correctly for the new century. Like most other Year 2000 ready PCs throughout the industry, a reboot is recommended after the Year 2000 occurs in order to synchronize the hardware clock for the new century.
HW Ready* (HW Ready indicates that the ready status refers to hardware only and not to any software that might be pre-installed or otherwise provided by IBM with the purchase of the hardware. The * indicates that customer action is required for the product to be Year 2000 ready, such as bios update or EC.) For PC products, this means your model's hardware can meet the criteria to be considered "Ready", but only if you update your PC to the level of BIOS identified in the report. Like most other Year 2000 ready PCs throughout the industry, a reboot is recommended after the Year 2000 occurs in order to synchronize the hardware clock for the new century.
OS Ready (Indicates that the ready status of the IBM operating system software refers to IBM products only and does not apply to any "as is" or non-IBM software that may be provided along with the IBM software products.)
OS Ready* (OS Ready indicates that the ready status of the IBM operating system software refers to IBM products only and does not apply to any "as is" or non-IBM software that may be provided along with the IBM software products. The * indicates that customer action is required for the product to be Year 2000 ready, such as the application of a PTF.)
Not Ready IBM considers a product not Year 2000 ready if we know that it does not meet the definition of Year 2000 ready set out above, or if it has not been tested. There are no plans to make products in this category ready. For PC products, in order to avoid the PC providing potentially incorrect date information, you must manually reset the hardware clock after the Year 2000 occurs, before using the system.
NOT RDY+ (Indicates the product is not ready, but a software tool is available that may be able to help the user achieve Year 2000 hardware readiness equivalent function under selected operating systems.) For PC products, a year 2000 device driver is available from IBM that may be able to help you achieve Year 2000 hardware readiness equivalent function under selected operating systems.
VENDOR (No readiness information is available from IBM. Please contact the original manufacturer.)

Year 2000 Ready Definition:
IBM uses the term "Year 2000 ready" to refer to products that meet the following definition. Specifically, "Year 2000 ready" means that "a product, when used in accordance with its associated documentation, is capable of correctly processing, providing and/or receiving date data within and between the 20th and 21st centuries, provided that all products (for example, hardware, software and firmware) used with the product properly exchange accurate date data with it."

IBM considers products not ready for Year 2000 if they do not meet the definition set out above, or if they have not been tested. Products not affected by the Year 2000, such as hardware frames, keyboards, power supplies, and hardware or software product publications are considered ready. Please note, IBM products identified as Year 2000 ready may require user intervention, such as the application of Program Temporary Fixes (PTF's), Corrective Service Deliveries (CSDs) Engineering Changes (ECs), etc., before the Year 2000 occurs, or for PCs, restarting the system after the Year 2000 occurs. In an effort to provide relevant data to our customers, IBM has included additional information to denote situations in which action may be required or to denote additional information that might prove useful to our customers. The detail information is provided in the Expanded Report and special symbols are used in the Columnar Report and on the screen displays.

Please note, the information provided in our Product Readiness Reports may not be exhaustive.
