ITRP Tec Lab

TEC Remote Lab Access

The TEC is not directly accessible from the Internet for security reasons. There are several ways to access the lab switches and servers. To request an account and access procedures, send an email to tec@calstate.edu.

The current accessible devices are:

  1. Terminal server for console access: This can be used to TELNET to all other switches; there is an IP host file set up for this purpose. This server has consoles connected to all the hardware in the TEC Lab. Access the device using tec-ts.csu.net and tec-ts2.csu.net using “ssh” after a user ID and password is set up for you.

  2. VPN server for direct access the to ITRP lab management LAN: The VPN server will give you DHCP addresses on the management VLAN of the TEC Lab switches. To access the VPN server, install a VPN client (Cisco’s client has been tested successfully and is available from the Cisco Systems' web site). To configure the client, you will need the group authentication and password plus your user ID and password. Also set up the transport as IPSEC over UDP.

  3. TEC Lab Switches all have user IDs configured for access: Use the same user ID and password to log-in as set up in the previous access methods. The following are IP addresses of each switch that can be accessed via TELNET from any of the above servers.
