Destruction Equipment

Equipment used for the destruction of records that ensures the confidentiality 
of information.

Filing Equipment

Equipment used to store (preserve) records, including but not limited to, file 
cabinets (vertical and lateral), open-shelf filing units, and "prepackaged" 
indexing and retrieval systems.

Microfilm Equipment

Equipment used for (1) filming and reviewing records, (2) indexing and 
retrieving data either manually or with automated retrieval devices, (3) 
processing and duplicating film in any microfilm form, (4) testing required 
standards and quality of film, and (5) storing file regardless of location.  This 
definition includes microfilm equipment used with data processing systems, 
such as Computer Output Microfilm (COM) recorders and related equipment 
and Computer Assisted Retrieval (CAR) devices.

Optical Disk Equipment

Equipment used for (1) scanning and displaying records (images), (2) indexing 
and retrieving data/images, (3) storing, retrieving, routing and printing 
images, and (4) storing optical disks, laser cards, or other electronic image 
storage media.
