4052 DISPATCHERS

In 1976, the Public Safety Advisory Committee recommended that the
classification of Public Safety Dispatcher be created and that each campus have
a minimum of three dispatchers. However, a budget cut later in the year
reduced the number of positions to two dispatchers per campus.

The protection and safety of the campus environment is directly tied to the
delivery of police services. This delivery is directly related to the skill and
experience of the police Dispatcher. Success of the critical position of
Dispatcher is dependent in large part on ability, knowledge, and patience. A
full-time, trained, and experienced Dispatcher is essential to immediately
obtain emergency information, make decisions, dispatch the proper resources,
and monitor field activities.
