The following records retention schedule is in compliance with federal 
regulations; see the referenced encyclopedia for the detailed documents that 
should be retained.

1.	Pell Grants

Retention Period:  Five Years

Remarks:  From date of final report submitted by covering Pell funds, or until 
audit exceptions have been resolved.

2.	National Defense/Direct Student Loan (NDSL)

Retention Period:  Five Years

Remarks:  From final payment or until audited by HEW or another agency 
designated by Department of Education, whichever occurs later, and all audit 
exceptions have been resolved.

3.	College Work-Study (CWS)

Retention Period:  Five Years

Remarks:  From submission of FISAP or until any audit exceptions have been 
resolved (unless precluded by Statute of Limitations).

4.	Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (SEOG)

Retention Period:  Three Years

Remarks:  From submission of FISAP or until any audit exceptions have been 
resolved (unless precluded by Statute of Limitations).

5.	Guaranteed Student Loans (GSL)

Retention Period:  Five Years

Remarks:  Following termination of enrollment.

6.	Nursing Student Loans

Retention Period:  See Remarks

Remarks:  Until the Department of Human Services agrees retention is no 
longer necessary.

7.	Nursing Scholarships
(Discontinued Program)

Retention Period:  Five Years

Remarks:  From close of fiscal year in which awarded or until audited, 
whichever is earlier.

8.	Law Enforcement Education Program (LEEP)
(Discontinued Program)

Retention Period:  Five Years

Remarks:  From close of fiscal year in which transaction took place.
