2808.02.01  DEFERMENT

Provisions for deferment vary according to the date of loan issuance.  Refer to 
NACUBO/SLCP pp. 68-71 for a summary of these provisions and also refer to 
42 C.F.R. 57.310, Nursing Student Loan Program  Final Regulations, August 
23, 1985.  In general, repayment of principal and interest is not required under 
the following circumstances.

1.	Reenrollment in a nursing program prior to expiration of the first 
	grace period.

2.	Pursuit of advanced professional training after the expiration of the 
	first grace period. 

3.	Service in the military or Peace Corps.
