2801.06  NURSING STUDENT LOAN (NSL) PROGRAM

The Nursing Student Loan Program was enacted by the Nurse Training Act of 
1964 (P.L. 88-581), Title VIII, Section 835 of the Public Health Service Act, as 
amended.  The Health Professions Educational Assistance Amendments of 
1965 (P.L. 89-290), Allied Health Professions Personnel Training Act of 1966 

(P.L. 89-751), Health Manpower Act of 1968 (P.L.90-490), Nurse Training Act of 
1971 (P.L. 92-158), and Nurse Training Act of 1975 (P.L. 92-158) also have 
amended the program.

The Nursing Student Loan Program provides low-cost loans for full and half-
time nursing students.

The maximum loan ceiling is $2,500 per student per year, or an aggregate 
maximum of $10,000.
