Systemwide
Quality Improvement Web-based surveys provide an effective and
low-cost method for annually soliciting feedback from students,
faculty, and staff on their needs, satisfaction, and priorities
for various services.
Many of the current customer satisfaction surveys
administered through the Systemwide Quality Improvement Program
(QI) have been utilized since 2001 and in some cases since 2000.
While some of the surveys have been updated over the years,
this year Systemwide QI has undertaken an effort to review the
survey instruments for currency

modifications. While it is ideal
to retain questions for the benefit of trend analysis opportunities,
the various affinity groups have been given the opportunity to review
and update the instruments to reflect current programs and services
and to identify those items that may no longer be applicable. To
support campus assessment efforts in support services and co-curricular
activities, several of the affinity groups are developing questions
that will help provide indirect evidence about student learning
or program effectiveness. After receiving input from the groups,
a team of institutional research directors will be asked to review
the surveys prior to administration. Once the base systemwide surveys
are finalized, each campus will then be able to construct its own
survey by selecting from the list of questions and adding campus-specific
questions. This will continue to be an option for campuses in future
surveys. In
the past, Systemwide QI contracted with Survey Monkey to host
the surveys. However, due to increased interest in this service,
Systemwide QI has purchased Remark Web Survey software and will
host it at the Chancellor’s Office for greater accessibility
to the user community.
Spring
administration will take place in March/April for semester campuses
and April/May for quarter campuses. The Systemwide QI office will
be sending out the survey administration plan in late November.
