Focus on the value of the information — not necessarily the format. We often see executives focused on the layout of a report and pay little attention to the valuable information that should be gleaned from it.

One of the biggest challenges is weaning management away from a certain paper report or layout. Executives should challenge themselves to identify what information they truly need to make better decisions and how they can get this information in a timely and cost effective manner.
