Business Professor at Cal State Long Beach Is Most
Viewed Professor on Student Web Site-RatingsOnline.com
Ted Azarmi, assistant professor in the College of Business Administration
at California State University, Long Beach, is the most viewed professor
at RatingsOnline.com, an Internet
site where students give opinions about faculty members at their institutions.
In all, more than 31,000 faculty throughout the country are listed at
RatingsOnline.com, and the site lists 57 Cal State Long Beach faculty.
For Azarmi, students have gone to the site more than 1,500 times to
learn about his teaching and 31 student evaluators gave him a 96 percent
teaching score.
RatingsOnline provides answers to such basic questions as whether the
professor assigns and grades homework, how many quizzes or exams are
given in a semester, what determines the final grade, whether extra
credit is given and if the professor grades on a curve. Subjective opinions
related to whether the faculty member is organized and shows enthusiasm
also are included.
"I am proud of my students who are contributing to our institution
getting name recognition on a highest-viewed list that, in addition
to CSULB at the top position, includes UCLA, Indiana University-Bloomington,
the University System of Georgia, University of Florida and UC Santa
Barbara," said Azarmi, who serves as a board member of the Global
Finance Association and on the Editorial Advisory Council of the Journal
of American Academy of Business, Cambridge.
Azarmi joined the CSULB Finance, Real Estate and Law Department in 1998.
The Long Beach resident sponsored a finance study Internet Web site
that has been recommended by StudyWeb as a place "to discover lots
of lecture notes, case studies and tutorials for business finance."
His degrees include a B.S. in industrial engineering and an M.S. in
systems engineering from the University of Illinois and M.S. degrees
in finance and business/statistics and a Ph.D. in finance from the University
of Wisconsin-Madison.
