Dear Joe: The California State University, in accordance with applicable federal law, permits each campus to certify that a Unit 1 physician is an "individual practitioner who is required to obtain an individual registration in order to carry out his or her duties..." as a CSU employee. Each campus which requires a Unit 1 physician to maintain a current and valid DEA registration will provide the appropriate certification, to the extent permitted by law, permitting such individual practitioner to be eligible for the allowable exemption for State employees from payment of reregistration application fees.
