Preparing CSU Students for UC Doctoral Programs
How can CSU faculty help their students compete for admission to and be successful in UC doctoral programs? Dr. Glen Winans, Assistant Dean of Graduate Studies at UCLA, and Linda DeAngelo, a doctoral student and Graduate Student Researcher in UCLA's Graduate School of Education & Information Studies, will discuss a study of CSU alumni experiences in UCLA doctoral programs and the vital role of CSU faculty in preparing students for graduate study.

9 a.m. - 5 p.m. The IMAGE Project
Drop by the lobby to meet Kathleen Cohen, the CSU IMAGE Project Director. Explore the digital collection of images available free to CSU faculty and learn how to create online portfolios for your students. The collection includes CIELO (3,000 images for the first half of the basic art history survey) and WorldArt (over 25,000 images suitable for a variety of courses in the arts, humanities, and social sciences).

Join Lori Erdman, the building design and construction project manager, for an insider's walking tour of the Chancellor's Office. Learn about the planning, special design features, and construction of this award-winning building. Limited to 40 participants.

4:15 p.m. Conversation on Exchanges

Meet Cheryl Weigand, the Managing Editor of Exchanges: The On-line Journal of Teaching and Learning in the CSU, for an informal discussion of how to publish in the journal. Submission guidelines and the review process will be discussed, and questions and comments will be encouraged.

The Elegant Arrival: Terns and Skimmers at Bolsa Chica
Learn about the shore birds in Southern California from Charles T. Collins, Professor Emeritus, Department of Biological Sciences, CSU Long Beach. Charlie has studied these birds for decades and has used the local bird sanctuary at Bolsa Chica in Huntington Beach as a fieldwork, student research, and personal research site. He will tell stories about our local birds, discuss the use of the Bolsa Chica wetlands as a fieldwork and research site, and answer questions about the birds you'll see during your stay in Long Beach.
